NEWS AND NOTES -- October 2012

Never Miss a Chance to Dance! October 2012 Great Things... ...are happening!  The kids seem excited to be back in dance class, and they are working so hard!  Technique has been our primary focus the past weeks, even in hip hop class, and that will continue.  Here are a few highlights:     Ballet/Jazz - Dancers are focusing on their alignment for proper and efficient movement.  Ask them to tell you about T-Neck!      Hip Hop - All hip hoppers are learning about different styles of hip hop.  Younger classes are learning about Waving.  Older students are learning how to Krump!      Contemporary - These dancers are learning about artistry.  We are working with a new practice called "Four Phases".  It's taking the dancers out of their comfort zone, but the work it has the potential to create is extraordinary.        Create & Move - These kiddos are learning through play and adventure.  Right now, we are focusing on spatial awareness and patterning.    Bring a Friend to Dance! Students are invited to "Bring a Friend to Dance" through October 17th.  If that student registers for classes, you'll receive a tuition discount during the month of November! Parent Observation Reminder: There is ONLY scheduled Parent Observation days in the Create and Move Class (preschool/kindergarten).  If you would like to observe your child's class, let me know and we can set that up! Studiowear and Costumes The line of Fusion DanceWorks studio wear keeps growing!  In addition to the jackets, t-shirts, camisoles, spandex, and hats, we'll be adding sweats and V-neck t's!  Keep in mind, these make great birthday and Christmas gifts, and can be worn to class!  I'll let you know when order forms are available. It's ENTIRELY to early to be thinking about recital and costumes, but I have some reminders.  First, if your dancer has costumes from past recitals that STILL FIT, do not get rid of them!  Keep them in a costume box where we can pull from and reuse if needed!  I like to recycle and reuse as much as possible to keep your costs down!  Most hip hop students will use the same costume this year; if anything doesn't fit, let me know what is needed.  A special newsletter will go out about costumes and deposits before Thanksgiving.    Reminders  ~Please make a note on your calendars that tuition is always due at the first class of each month.  A late fee is added after the 15th of the month.  ~All studio policies can be found in the handbook on the Fusion DanceWorks website.   ~I have created a Google Calendar for the studio this year, located on the website.  It will be the place to check for class changes and make-ups.  Please check here often.   ~If you need to contact me regarding studio business, the best medium is e-mail or phone call.  I don't always take the time to respond to text messages.  You can also set up a time to meet with me if that is more convenient for you!   -- Miranda Bushaw Beyer, Owner/Instructor Important Dates  to Remember Oct. 3 Create & Move  Parent Observation 5:30-6pm Oct. 31 NO CLASSES HALLOWEEN See Below For Make-Up Classes May 23-24 RECITAL!
