May 2012 Newsletter! Countdown to Recital!

The Countdown is on!  Recital is only 2 weeks away...are you ready?!  The dances are done and we are putting final touches on performances.  This is a lengthy newsletter, with info on Dress Rehearsals, Recital, Summer Dance, and Fall Pre-registration…So let’s wind down the year:


Tuition:
 Tuition needs to be paid in full by Wednesday, May 16th.  

Dress Rehearsals::

The first dress rehearsal went GREAT!! There is always so much going on, but my dancers were very well behaved, practiced their dances on their own, and performed very well.  THANK YOU! 

The next dress rehearsal is Wednesday, May 23rd, at Hanson Auditorium at West Delaware High School.  Call times are as follows:
Junior High/High School Ballet/Jazz:  4pm
ALL other dancers:  4:30pm

As with all dress rehearsals, this is MANDATORY.  If your dancer cannot attend for any reason, please contact me ASAP.

Dancers should bring:
 -Every piece of their costume (including green shirt)
 -All dance shoes
 **PLEASE have names inside ALL costumes and shoes...then if anything is misplaced, it can be returned to the proper owner.



Recital Helpers::

If you are interested in helping backstage at recital on either Thursday, May 24th or Friday, May 25th, please let me know by Wednesday, May 16th.  We need people to help the girls get changed, help with hair/make-up, and other crises as they arise :)



Recital Tickets::

This year, we are offering pre-sale tickets for recital.  Advance prices are as follows:

Family 4-pack -- $10
Single -- $3

If you would like to order tickets, please send your request to me by Tuesday, May 22nd.  All pre-sale ticket money must be received by Dress Rehearsal on May 23rd.

All tickets at the door will be $5.  Kids 5 and under are free


Please remember, both nights of recital are required.  

Your classmates are counting on you, and the dances were choreographed with each dancer in mind!  You are important!


Summer Dance Camp::

There are LOTS of things happening this summer, and I am so excited!

Dance Camp in Strawberry Point will be June 4-8 from 1pm-3pm each day at the Civic Center.  Classes are for 1st-12th graders, and students will take Hip Hop, Ballet, and Contemporary.  Cost is $40.  There is also a class for preschoolers from 3-3:30.  This class is $25.  The students will perform their camp dances at Strawberry Days on Friday night at 6pm in Inger Park!  



Dance Camp in Edgewood is June 18-22 at the Fusion DanceWorks studio.  All classes are $30
Class schedule will be:
     1:45-2:30pm -- Preschool Creative Movement 

     2:30-3:15pm -- Elementary Hip Hop 

     3:15-4:00pm -- Jr High/High School Hip Hop 

Dancers will perform their camp dances in the park at 4pm Saturday during Rodeo Days!

The following week, June 25-29, we will have Ballet Bootcamp.  Don't let the name scare you...this will be a great way to try ballet for the first time, or to work on technique for continuing dancers.  All classes are $30, but if you register for BOTH the Hip Hop Camp and Ballet, the total is only $50 (that's a $10 savings!!)
Class schedule will be:

     1:00-1:45pm -- Elementary Ballet 

     1:45-2:30pm -- Jr High/High School Ballet


Summer Dance Performances/Parades

ALL dancers are invited to perform their recital dances at Strawberry Days.  This will be Friday, June 8 at Inger Park (behind the grocery store) at 6pm.  Dancers should wear their green t-shirts and black bottoms.  Please let me know by June 1st if you plan on dancing with us!

Then, ALL dancers are invited to ride in the Edgewood Days parade with Fusion DanceWorks on Saturday, June 23rd.  We will meet at 1:15 at Kris Bockenstedt’s house; the parade begins at 2pm!  We had such an AWESOME turnout last year…let’s have even more dancers this year!  Following the parade, dancers will perform their recital dances in the Park at 4pm.  We keep getting a bigger crowd every year.  People are looking forward to seeing your talent!  Please let me know by June 15th if you plan on participating in the parade or dancing in the park.  


Fall Pre-Registration

I know it seems too early to be planning for Fall dance already, but I’m already excited for it!  If you are interested in fall classes, please let me know what class(es) you’re interested in!  If you’re concerned about conflicts with class times, let me know and we will set something up.  As the studio continues to grow, I’m trying to expand my hours and class offerings, and as long as my students WANT to dance, I want to do what I can to KEEP them dancing!
